A singer/songwriter from Northern Ireland Chris started writing songs in his teens heavily influenced by songwriters like Bob Dylan,Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard and John Prine….these days he has added to the list of influences with the likes of Steve Earle,

Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Emmylou Harris, Iris DeMent and Lucinda Williams to name but a few!

In the early 80's he left home and enrolled in a graphic design course at the Rupert Stanley College, Belfast, but was increasingly drawn toward music and after two years he left to form The Ebony Cels, a country'mor'dylanesque band...

He eventually left the band, mainly because he felt the vocals were not as strong and distinctive as he would have liked and decided to concentrate on his writing. So Chris started sending songs and poems to publishers, singers, record labels and radio. After a lot of persistence he had several poems published in local newspapers and enjoyed numerous recitations on radio alongside songs being cut by local singers Joe Moore and Keith Irwin...

But it was the constant encouragement from producer Clive Culbertson at 'No Sweat' studio's that finally had him back behind the mic, recording and singing his own songs. He finally recorded his debut album ‘Hands Of Time’ in the late 90’s… and so began a new chapter! The album unfortunately was self released and as all funds were used at the recording stage there was nothing left for the promotion…the album picked up some great reviews and radio play world wide but it's impact was minimal..

A few years on and further down the road found the release of Chris’ second album aptly entitled... ‘ Somewhere Down The Road’...a small run, it is now out of print and only available for digital download. A more ‘sparse’ recording than its’ predecessor it was a collection of another 12 songs all written by Chris. It was however no less an album! With several up-tempo numbers, a few fox trot‘s and of course a couple of very strong ballads. Blended together with a mixture of twin fiddles, dobro and old style pedal steel with a little honky tonk guitar, piano and acoustic finger picking....recorded at Shindig by Kevin Reid.

Fast forward to 2009 and recorded with some of Northern Ireland’s finest session musicians - Clive Culbertson, Aine Whelan, Johnny Scott, Tony Phillips, John Fitzpatrick & Rod McVey - Restless Ramblin' Man offers yet again 12 new original songs from Chris... It no doubt reflects the influences of artists like John Prine, Steve Earle and Kris Kristofferson but Chris has his own unique style and writing ability that delivers an album that can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best.
